The 69th podcast covers the first couple days of NFL’s free agency period, discussing the impact that the major moves at primarily QB and RB will have on our fantasy rankings come this fall.

Biggest Moves

QB — Kirk Cousins to Atlanta Falcons — Instant Reaction: Cousins is an improvement for Falcons but his floor and ceiling have declined. He’s a high end QB2

QB Sam Darnold to Minnesota Vikings — Reaction: Darnold likely starter but TBD on draft. Justin Jefferson’s value isn’t likely to take a big hit (look at his numbers sans Cousins in ’23) but Jordan Addison & TJ Hockenson’s upsides are dropped.

RB Saquon Barkley to Philadelphia Eagles—Reaction: will jump, but his touches will decline. Overall, he’s a stable low-end RB1.

RB Josh Jacobs to Green Bay Packers — Reaction: RB1 with upside to challenge as top fantasy back. He’s extremely skilled and goes to an offense that will give him higher leverage opportunities.

RB Derrick Henry to Baltimore Ravens — Reaction: RB1 with upside to return to top 5 status paired with Lamar Jackson. Henry could league leading TD opposite and a 1,500+ total scrimmage yard season in ’24.

RB Gus Edwards to LA Chargers — Reaction: Watch the draft but IF they don’t select a Blake Corum type before the 6th round, then Edwards has solid RB2 with upside potential.

RB Aaron Jones to Minnesota Vikings — Reaction: KOC led offense is a great fit, it’s a 1 year prove it contract, his value is unchanged UNLESS Vikings use a 2nd day pick on a RB.

RB Joe Mixon to Houston Texans — Reaction: Lots of hype here, Mixon is a good fit but he’s got a lot of wear and tear, and Texans could rotate with Pierce. Low end RB2.

RB D’Andre Swift to Chicago Bears — Reaction: More hype than substance. I’m a huge Swift fan but he’s shown he’s more of a change of pace, 3rd down back than an everydown type. He’s a RB3 in Chicago.

RB Tony Pollard to Tennessee Titans — Reaction: Pollard has some talent but like Swift he’s more of a 1b than a bellcow, we saw that last year when he was outperformed by his backup in a dynamic offense. RB3/Flex.

RB Zach Moss to Cincinnati Bengals — Reaction: Underrated player, he’s a solid RB3 with RB2 upside IF they don’t select a day 2 or early day 3 back.

WR Gabe Davis to Jacksonville Jaguars — Reaction: Nothing to see here…Davis goes from clear #2 target with spectacular weekly upside to a JAG, literally and figuratively. Flex, possibly WR3 potential.

WR Darnell Mooney to Atlanta Falcons — Reaction: Meh…if you’re in a very deep league there is some flex potential, possibly WR3 IF the Falcons don’t draft a receiver in the first couple of rounds.
